Library Sevices: ConnectNY (CNY)

What is ConnectNY?

ConnectNY is a consortium of academic libraries in New York State.  USMA patrons may borrow materials from ConnectNY libraries if the books are not owned by the USMA Library or if the USMA Library's copy is already checked out.

Items requested via ConnectNY generally arrive within 2-5 working days.

Patrons will be notified via email when their requested items have been delivered to the library.

Items are held for pick up behind the Circulation Desk on the first floor of the library.


Loan Periods: ConnectNY items are loaned for 42 days. An additional 42 day renewal may be requested if other users have not reserved the item.
 
Fines and Fees: Borrowers will be billed for overdue items 30 days after loan expiration. $100 fee will be imposed for billed or lost books;  the fee will be rescinded for prompt return of overdue items. To view or renew your CNY requests, sign in to your account from the library homepage.

Using ConnectNY from Within Scout

When using SCOUT to search for items in the USMA Library's collection, you will see, to the right of the list of the results of your search, an icon for ConnectNY. Your search term will already appear in the search box (as in the example below), so if you don't find what you're looking for in SCOUT, simply click "Go" in the CNY icon, and your search will be re-run in CNY. A new window will open, showing your results. If you see the item you are looking for listed in the results, go ahead and select it, and once you confirm by reading the item record that you've found your item, you can request it by clicking on the "Request Hold" button and following the instructions: choose your institution, and enter your name and Library ID (Cadets: C# / Faculty and staff: DoD ID number on the back of your CAC). Using ConnectNY from within the USMA Library Catalog

When using the USMA Library's catalog to search our collection of resources, and the item you are looking for is not in our collection, you'll see a message that your item was not found - and that message will include a ConnectNY SEARCH icon (see the example below).  Simply click on that CNY icon, and your search will be re-run in CNY. A new window will open, showing your results.
