In addition to being your personal librarian, I am the Cadet Engagement Librarian here at the USMA Library. I am tasked with finding ways to reach out to cadets and get them excited about how Library staff and resources can help make their time here more rewarding - and efficient.
Along with my Master’s degree in Library Science (yes, that’s totally a thing!), I also have a BS in Art History and an Associates degree in Forestry (Fun Fact: I went to Ranger School: FOREST RANGER school!). I have a background in Civil Engineering – I worked in that field for almost 20 years – which makes me a perfect fit as the liaison Librarian for the CME Department here at West Point. I also serve as the OIC for the Nordic Ski team, and as an OR for the Men’s tennis team.
My favorite thing to do here, though, is to work with cadets – to help you learn the skills to succeed in research here at West Point and as an officer. Pease email me to set up an appointment to discuss your papers and projects. I look forward to working with you!
Keep you informed with periodic e-mail messages highlighting new resources and programs especially for students, as well as notices and timely reminders, such as programs for major assignments
Answer your questions about Library policies, procedures and services, such as ConnectNY & Interlibrary Loans
Assist with finding information for your research assignments, by helping you articulate your research question, identify the best sources, and formulate your search strategy
Support you even when you're not around (on vacation, or away from West Point on a trip section)
Help you when you don't know where to start, or you can't think of what to do next
Set up your computer; GoldCoats is the best resource for that!
Write your paper for you. While I’m happy to proofread your work, and offer suggestions on organization and content, paper-writing is YOUR job! I’ll certainly suggest a visit to the Mounger Writing Center to help you improve your paper, and can get you set up with that!
